Iran to become member of Shanghai Cooperation Organization

SANAA, Sept. 09 (YPA) – Iran to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and  the process will be announced  during the upcoming summit in Tajikistan.

“Soon there will be nine members of the Federation,” according to Kommersant, which refers to sources. During the upcoming summit in Dushanbe, Iran’s acceptance of the organization is planned.”

It is noted that the process of joining the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) can take some time.

The SCO summit will be held in Dushanbe on September 16-17.

Currently the members of the organization are Russia, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
