Biden extends “state of emergency” for another year

SANAA, Sept. 08 (YPA) – President of the United States Joe Biden has once again extended the state of emergency in the country for a year due to the threat of foreign interference in the American elections.

“I am extending by one year the national emergency regime declared by Executive Order 13848 regarding the threat or undermining of public confidence in US elections,” Biden announced in a statement released by the White House.

This state of emergency system has been in place since September 12, 2018, when it was imposed by the administration of former President Donald Trump.

The decree gives a legal basis for imposing various sanctions against parties that the United States suspects of trying to influence the outcome and conduct of the US elections or damage the electoral system.
