SANAA, Sept. 08 (YPA) – A powerful earthquake struck southwestern Mexico near the beach resort of Acapulco on Tuesday, authorities said.
The US Geological Survey said a 7.4-magnitude earthquake occurred at 37 kilometers northwest of San Marcos, Guerrero state.
The tsunami warning system stated that there might be a tsunami risk.
Material or human damage has not yet been detected, according to the authorities
Mexican authorities said Tuesday that massive floods killed 17 people, most of them infected with COVID-19, at a hospital in the central state of Hidalgo after heavy rains caused floods in the Tula River.
The government said in a statement that emergency service workers evacuated more than 40 other patients from the Tula town’s general hospital, while an initial assessment showed that some 2,000 homes were affected by the floods.
