One killed, others wounded in clashes between STC’s factions in Dhalea

DHALEA, Sept. 06 (YPA) –  Fierce clashes broke out on Sunday between the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s factions  in Dhalea province, southern Yemen, after attempts by Islah party, Yemeni branch of Muslim Brotherhoods to dismantle the council system in the city.

Local sources confirmed that clashes broke out between members of the city’s security belt and security management forces led by Deputy Director Bligh al-Hamidi.

The sources explained that the clashes expanded throughout the city neighborhoods, after the security belt forces led by “Abu Ali”, stormed the public prosecutor’s building.

According to the sources, Powerful explosions hit several neighbourhoods in the city as a result of mortar shells.

The same sources confirmed that one killed several others were wounded  from both sides, in addition to civilian casualties.

The clashes coincide with the intensification of conflicts between the STC’s factions in the city, following a decision by Hadi’s interior minister, Ibrahim Haydan, who is affiliated with the Islah party, to appoint the security belt commander as director of security for al-Dhalea instead of the leader of the southern resistance Khaled Mussad.
