Biden to declassify some documents about Sept. 11 attacks

SANAA, Sept. 04 (YPA) – US President Joe Biden signed an executive order Friday directing the declassification of certain documents related to the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

“When I ran for president, I made a commitment to ensuring transparency regarding the declassification of documents on the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on America,” Biden wrote in a statement Friday. “As we approach the 20th anniversary of that tragic day, I am honoring that commitment.”

“Before the 20th anniversary of 9/11, the American people deserve a fuller picture of what their authorities know about these attacks. It is important that the government maintain maximum transparency and maintain confidentiality only on occasions, he said.

The President stressed that he had pledged to ensure transparency in  regarding the declassification of documents relating to terrorist attacks on the country 20 years ago when he took office.

“As we approach the 20th anniversary of that tragic day, I am honoring that commitment,” he added.
