Syrian air defenses destroy 21 missiles fired by Israeli fighters

SANAS, Sept. 04 (YPA) – The deputy commander of the Russian Center for Reconciliation in Syria, Colonel Vadim Kolet, announced that the air force of the occupation launched strikes targeting targets in Syria, stressing that the Syrian air defense systems “Buk” and “Pantsir” destroyed 21 missiles out of 24.

Kolet said during a press briefing: “At approximately 1:30 am on September 3rd, four Israeli F-15 tactical fighters carried out air strikes from Lebanese airspace using 24 guided missiles against targets in the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic.”

He stressed that “the Syrian air defense forces, using the “Buk M2i” and “Pantsir-S1” air defense systems, destroyed 21 missiles.

On Thursday, a Syrian military source said, “Syrian air defenses repelled an Israeli aggression on the outskirts of the capital, Damascus, which caused material damage.”

A high-ranking security source said that the Syrian air defenses responded to missiles launched by enemy Israeli aircraft from the airspace of the Lebanese Republic, and an attempt to target the vicinity of the capital, Damascus, from the southwestern side.

The source confirmed that the air defense missiles were able to confront most of the Israeli missiles before reaching their target.

On Friday, Syria called on the Security Council and the United Nations to condemn the Israeli aggression against it and to take firm measures to prevent its recurrence.
