Bloomberg: Near-complete halt in maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz

WASHINGTON, July 09 (YPA) – The US news agency “Bloomberg” reported that maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz experienced an almost complete halt on Thursday, according to vessel tracking data.

It said that movement was limited to a shipping lane operated by Iran along the northern side of the strait, while the Omani passage supported by the United States appeared to be empty of vessels.

The report added that the crossings detected were limited to a sanctioned oil supertanker and an Iranian-flagged container ship, while other vessels may have passed through the strait after turning off their tracking systems.
