FM calls “UNICEF” to search for funds to provide incentives for teachers

SANAA, Sept. 01 (YPA) – Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf on Wednesday called on UNICEF to play its role in seeking funds to provide incentives for workers in the educational field, including teachers and administrators.

The foreign minister made it clear, during his meeting with UNICEF’s resident representative in Yemen, Philippe Duhamel, that the humanitarian catastrophe created by the Saudi-led coalition was not limited to malnutrition and severe shortages of basic foodstuffs, but included all basic areas of life, including the educational process.

Sharaf again warned of the repercussions of the continued ban on entry to ships loaded with oil derivatives and domestic gas, which led to a near-stopping of a number of hospitals and health centers.

He said that the continued closure of Sanaa International Airport “only serves the enemies of peace and those who do not want the aggression to stop.”

The continued closure of the airport led to the death of a large number of patients, including children, who needed treatment abroad, he added.

For his part, UNICEF resident representative confirmed that the organization gives the humanitarian situation in Yemen a priority on its agenda.
