Saudi forces step up sorties in Mahra

MAHRA, Sept. 01 (YPA) – The Saudi fighter jets on Wednesday stepped up their sorties at low altitude in the airspace of Mahra province, eastern Yemen.

According to local sources, the Saudi and British forces intensified their sorties after transferring their equipment from some locations to Al-Ghaydah Airport, which they has taken as a military base since 2017.

This comes amid warnings that Saudi Arabia could hand over military sites in Al-Mahra to the Southern Transitional Council (STC).

The sources explained that the recent Saudi moves to transfer weapons from Al-Masila area are not a final withdrawal, but rather a tactic to reduce the financial burdens of its forces, indicating that Saudi Arabia handed over these sites to tribal elements loyal to it.
