NCM expects thunderstorms in number of provinces

SANAA, Sept. 01 (YPA) – The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) expected thunderstorms in a number of provinces during the next 24 hours.

In its weather bulletin on Wednesday, the center stated that rain, accompanied by thunderstorms and hail at times, is expected on the western highland chain from Saada in the north to Taiz and Lahj in the south, and it will be heavier on the provinced of Dhamar, Ibb and Taiz.

The center indicated the possibility of scattered light to medium rain accompanied by thunderstorms in the provinces of Shabwa, Abyan, Bayda, Hadhramaut and Mahra.

According to the center, light to medium thunderstorms are expected, accompanied by thunderstorms, on the coasts of the provinces of Aden, Taiz, Lahj, Abyan, Hadhramaut, Hodeidah and the interior areas adjacent to those coasts.

The center pointed to the continuation of the activity of the southwest monsoon on the Socotra archipelago, which disturbs the sea and raises waves.

The center warned citizens against being in valleys and flood lanes during and after rain, and drivers of vehicles in bends and mountain slopes from reduced visibility as a result of rain or the formation of water mist.

The center alerted the captains of small ships, fishermen and sea-goers in the Socotra archipelago of strong winds and sea turbulence.
