SANAA, Aug. 31 (YAP) – The Iranian ambassador to Iraq, Iraj Masjedi, said on Monday that his country would be prepared to hold a new round of talks with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the Iraq capital, Baghdad.
The Iranian Students’ News Agency (ISNA) quoted the diplomat as saying Masjedi, during his participation in the “Al-Rafidain Forum for Dialogue”: “In cooperation with the Iraqi government, we held three rounds of talks with Saudi Arabia in Baghdad, and the fourth round will be held after the formation of the new Iranian government.”
“Iran is a great and civilized country, and is ready for any kind of dialogue towards peace and friendship with countries, including Saudi Arabia,” the diplomat continued, “Iran has declared its readiness for dialogue and peace and is extending its hand to help neighboring countries and the region.”
In May, Iran publicly confirmed for the first time talks with Saudi Arabia, saying it would do the best to settle issues the two countries, which diplomatic ties have been suspended since 2016.
