UAE’s security arm leaves Aden suddenly after Al-Anad attacks

ADEN, Aug. 30 (YPA) – A senior security leader of the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) left Aden Airport suddenly on Sunday evening after the attacks that hit Al-Anad airbase in Lahj province, north of Aden city, southern Yemen.

Shallal Shaya, who was recently appointed commander of the so-called “Counter-Terrorism Forces” and is considered the UAE’s security arm in the city, left Aden airport heading for the Egyptian capital, Cairo, according to local media.

Shaya’s leaving came hours after the violent bombings at Al-Anad base, which left more than 100 dead and wounded among the ranks of the forces loyal to Saudi-led coalition.
