Two Britons killed in Kabul explosions

SANAA, Aug. 28 (YPA) – Two British nationals and the child of a third British national were killed and two others were wounded in Thursday’s attack at Kabul airport, British foreign minister Dominic Raab said on Friday.

“These were innocent people and it is a tragedy that as they sought to bring their loved ones to safety in the UK they were murdered by cowardly terrorists,” Raab said in a statement.

“Thursday’s despicable attack underlines the dangers facing those in Afghanistan and reinforces why we are doing all we can to get people out,” he added.

The two explosions left more than 50 people dead, most of them Afghan civilians as well as 13 US soldiers, while more than 120 people have been injured.

According to Afghan sources, the bodies of the dead and injured were taken to hospitals, with women and children being among those affected.

Daesh is a sworn enemy of the Taliban, and the two organisations have fought bitter conflicts over the past years. The Taliban leadership has vowed swift punishment on those responsible for the attack.
