Mass rally in Saada marks Ashura Day

SAADA, Aug. 19 (YPA) – Thousands of Yemeni citizens in Saada province, northern Yemen took streets on Thursday to mark Ashura Day, commemorating the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam of Husayn, grandson of the Prophet Muhammad.

At the rally, the participants raised banners and slogans denouncing the US policy in the region, and calling for the boycott of American and Israeli goods.

During the event, speeches and poems were delivered that spoke about the revolution of Imam Husayn and the position of truth that he had taken in the face of tyrants and oppressors.

A statement was issued during the protest, confirming the continuation of confronting  Saudi-led aggression, and our revolution stems from our belief in the justice of our cause and it is an extension of Imam of Husayn’s revolution.

The protesters confirmed their adherence to the Husayn’s approach, teachings and examples set during his life.
