Emirati soldier of Yemeni origin kidnapped in Abyan

ABYAN, Aug. 18 (YPA) – Gunmen believed to be affiliated with al-Qaeda have kidnapped an Emirati soldier of Yemeni origin on Wednesday in the southern Yemeni province of Abyan.

This was reported by Yemen News Portal, based on sources.

According to the sources, operative  elements of al-Qaeda stormed a house in al-Hamd area of Lawdar district and abducted  a young man named Abdul Rahman Al-Shubaili Al-Awdhali, and took him to unknown destination.

However, the sources suggested that he was taken to the city of Lawdar, which was recently taken by Hadi’s forces, from where they took the al-Mahalhal road and headed to border areas with Bayda province.

According to the sources, Al-Shubaili is a soldier in the UAE forces, and was kidnapped while visiting his hometown of Lawdar weeks after  his arriving in Yemen.
