Major fire devours plastics factory in Dubai

DUBAI, Aug. 11 (YPA) – A major fire broke out Wednesday in a plastics factory in Jebel Ali area, in the Emirate of Dubai, to the west of the UAE.

The General Directorate of Civil Defense in Dubai said that the fire occurred due to the burning of flammable plastic materials, and firefighting teams are trying to control the fire, amid thick smoke rising above the factory.

The Dubai Media Incorporated (governmental) confirmed that the civil defense teams and the specialized units succeeded in evacuating the factory from all its employees without recording any injuries.

The UAE authorities did not say the extent of the losses caused by the fire.

Last month, a fire broke out in a container on board a ship anchored in Jebel Ali Port, before it was brought under control.

Jebel Ali Port, the most prominent in the UAE, is 30 kilometers from downtown Dubai, towards the west of the capital, Abu Dhabi.
