JAWF, Aug. 3 (YPA) – The United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator, William David Grisley, pledged to provide projects with an initial value of five million dollars for Jawf province.
This came during his visit on Monday to the province, and he was briefed by the Governor of Jawf, Faisal bin Haider, and the Secretary General of the Supreme Council for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdul Mohsen Tawoos, on the needs of the Al Hazm General Hospital Authority in terms of medical devices and cadres.
The visit also included the desalination plant in the Western Al-Mahzam area in Al-Hazm, the displaced persons camp in the Al-Ayedh area, the water project and the desalination plant in the Al-Matoun district.
The UN official expressed his astonishment at what he witnessed of the great suffering of the local population, stressing the importance of concerted efforts to alleviate their suffering.
While the Governor of Jawf pointed to the importance of cooperation and support of humanitarian organizations to implement relief and development projects for the province, as it lacks the simplest projects, pointing to the suffering of citizens as a result of the continuation of the aggression and the repercussions of the siege and the extent of the destruction left by the aerial bombardment of the aggression on infrastructure, homes and farms of citizens.
While Tawoos expressed the council’s readiness to provide all facilities for organizations to expand their activities in the governorate, in a way that contributes to alleviating the suffering of citizens as a result of the aggression and siege.
He expressed his hope that the donors would speed up providing the necessary funding to implement humanitarian and service projects in the governorate, pointing to the governorate’s lack of development projects, as it was deprived during the previous regimes of the simplest service projects.
