Aden Governor warns of environmental disaster due to oil tanker sinking off coast of Aden

SANAA, Jul. 27 (YPA) – Aden governor warned on Monday of the environmental, health and economic risks resulting from the leakage of fuel materials and oils from one of the ships anchored in the coast of Aden.

According to Saba News Agency, Tariq Mustafa Salam explained that the dilapidated ship, owned by Ahmed Al-Essa the deputy director of Hadi office, former Riyadh-backed president.

“The ship had been anchored on the coast of Al-Buraiqa district for a long time, which led to its sinking and the leakage of its cargo of fuel and oils, causing the appearance of a black layer on a large stretch of the shore,” he added.

He stressed that the ship’s sinking was a result of deliberate neglect by the ship’s owners, who did not move to repair it and spare Yemeni marine waters from its environmental, health and economic risks.

Salam indicated that the leak was not limited to the coasts of Al-Buraiqa in Aden, but its effects extended to Al-Haswa Nature Reserve.

“This confirms the reality of the suspicious role of the US-Saudi aggression in destroying the Yemeni marine environment and all the capabilities and wealth of the country to continue looting and tampering with it,” he added.
