Ministry of interior holds Saudi-led coalition, mercenaries responsible for pollution of Aden’s coasts
SANAA, Jul. 26 (YPA) – Ministry of Interior in the national Salvation government on Monday condemned systematic destruction of the marine environment in Yemeni territorial waters by the occupation and its mercenaries, most recently the pollution of the coasts of Aden province.
The ministry, in a statement, denounced the pollution of the coasts in Aden province and the destruction of marine life in much of the territorial waters as a result of the sinking of an oil tanker that had been docking in the port of Aden for a long time, the so-called oil tanker “Daiya”.
The statement noted that the Coast Guard’s report confirms the occupation and mercenaries knew that the ship was dilapidated and posed a serious threat to the environment, marine life and navigation.
The ship was banned from docking at all ports, but it was allowed access to the port of Aden and made port for a long time, which resulted in its sinking, leaking its cargo and contaminating the coasts of the province in a crime that was clearly committed with premeditation and deliberateness, the statement said.
The statement considered the sinking of the ship as a crime committed deliberately .
It held the occupation states and mercenaries responsible for the damage caused by the leak of the ship’s cargo.
