Protests begin in Tunisia calling for government step down

TUNIS, Jul. 26 (YPA) – Mass protests began in several Tunisian cities on Sunday, against Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi and demanding the government step down and parliament.

Tunisian media reported that demonstrators attacked Ennahda headquarters in several cities, claiming that the prime minister belonged to Ennahda.

Media also noted that mass demonstrations had taken place in several cities amid anger over the economic situation and the crisis of the Corona epidemic.

Despite the outbreak of Corona virus, heightened security measures and the response of many Tunisians to calls for demonstrations, many saw this as a possibility of real change in Tunisia.
