PM briefed on Capital Sanaa Municipality’s efforts to deal with floods damages

SANAA, Jul. 25 (YPA) – Prime Minister, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Habtoor, was briefed Sunday on the efforts of the Capital Sanaa Municipality to deal with the effects of the rain witnessed recently by the capital, especially with regard to rainwater drainage channels.

During his inspection visit in the capital, Dr. bin Habtoor listened to an explanation from Secretary General of the Local Council of the Capital Sanaa, Amin Jamaan, on the material damage caused by the torrential rains and the ongoing efforts to clean the water collection tanks in the bridge tunnels.

Jumaan referred to the challenges faced by the capital municipality and the service sector in particular as a result of internal migration to it.

He affirmed that the population of the capital currently exceeds seven million, which has doubled the burden on the municipality in light of the scarcity of the available financial capabilities and the exceptional circumstance that the country is going through as a result of the aggression and the siege.

In this regard, the Prime Minister directed the leadership of the local authority in the capital to prepare and submit an integrated report to the Council of Ministers on the conditions of the capital and its urgent needs, especially the equipment and mechanisms necessary to confront the damage and side effects resulting from the flow of rain torrents.

He urged the capital’s council to develop appropriate treatments for the problem of rainwater gathering in bridges tunnels.
