Islah arrests dozens of citizens in Shabwa

SHABWA, Jul. 07 (YPA) – Saudi-backed Islah militants carried out a campaign of arrests on Wednesday against dozens of citizens, including leaders, in the city of Ataq of Shabwa province.

Local sources stated that Islah’s “special forces” arrested in the campaign several leaders in the UAE-funded Southern Transitional Council (STC) as Nasser Muqlem Al-Khulaifi, Silan Hanash Al-Barassi, and Ahmed Salem Al-Jaashani, and took them with a number of others to prisons.

The sources indicated that the kidnapping of the STC affiliated leaders came while they were supervising the organization of a protest rally in Ataq city, to demand the Islah Party to leave the province.

On the other hand, a member of the National Assembly in the STC, Wadhah Attia, confirmed on Twitter, that the number of the abducted by Islah gunmen in the center of Ataq rose to 43.

This came after the Islah party had deployed dozens of military vehicles in the city of Ataq, and stormed the STC’s mass event in the same city.
