Hadi forces take control over Lawdar district in Abyan

ABYAN, Jul.03 (YPA) – Forces loyal to Hadi  and Islah party, have taken control  over the city of Lauder in the southern Yemeni province of Abyan on Friday, after bloody clashes with the UAE-backed Southern  Transitional Council (STC) militias .

This was reported by Yemen News Portal, based on local sources.

Local sources said Hadi’s forces took control of the Lawdar security department and deployed in the streets and entrances of the city after the retreat of forces loyal to the STC.

During the clashes, there were deaths and injuries on both sides.

According to the sources, among the dead was the pro-STC leader Mohammed Abdullah Dunba al-Damani.

The city is experiencing a cautious lull amid expectations of a return to confrontations after reports of attempts by the STC militias to launch a counterattack to restore the security department and the city, the sources said.
