Fierce clashes break out in Abyan

ABYN, Jul. 02 (YPA) – Fierce fighting broke out between UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC ) militias and forces loyal to Hadi’s government in southern Yemen’s Abyan province, local sources reported on Friday .

At these moments, the Lawdar district is witnessing clashes between Islah militants and members of the UAE’s security belt.

According to the sources,  a group of Islah militants led by Al-Awban are advancing towards Lauder Hospital, while other armed groups led by Abu Mashal are attacking the security belt headquarters, trying to seize it.

The sources explained that the artillery and mortars  were used to attack the “Security Department” building , which is under the control of the  security belt elements.

The sources confirmed that clashes left two soldiers dead.

On Thursday, the UAE-backed militias organized protests that roamed the streets of Lauder district demanding Islah and Hadi forces to leave the directorate, while a community mediation failed to remove the security belt elements from the security department building they  controlled yesterday.
