Printing local currency similar to old currency is failed attempt to target economic situation: Political researcher

TAIZ, Jun. 23 (YPA) – A Professor of Political Science at Taiz University said printing a local currency similar to the old Yemeni currency by the Saudi-backed exiled “Hadi government” is a failed attempt that will worsen the economic situation in the south and north of Yemen.

The Professor, Khaled Al-Shamiri, affirmed on Twitter, that the move by Hadi government would not solve the problem of the deterioration of the riyal price against the dollar.

He added: “The Muslim Brotherhood’s legitimacy is trying to cover its corruption by searching for new justifications for printing to fill its deficit, and this will exacerbate the problem and burden the citizen in the north and south.”

On Tuesday, the Central Bank of Yemen in Sanaa revealed a new criminal scheme carried out by the Hadi government” and the Saudi-led coalition to target the Yemeni currency, in which so-called Central Bank of Aden has worked to print the fake currency similar to the old Yemeni currency that are currently circulating in the areas of the National Salvation Government in Sanaa.
