ADEN, Jun. 20 (YPA) – Banks and post offices in Aden closed their doors on Sunday morning, in response to the call for a partial strike called by the General Syndicate of Banks, Taxes, Insurance and Financial Business in Aden city, southern Yemen.
Syndicate expressed, in a statement, its rejection of the politicization of union work and interventions in union work and the attempts aimed to exclude the elected union leadership.
The strike also comes to demand a halt to the violating actions and practices of the Social Affairs Office, the statement added.
Mohammed Faisal Bakhriba, Vice President of the Syndicate, explained that the closure of all banks and post offices will be for a period of two hours, as of today, (Sunday), and will continue for several days, until the demands of the union leadership and all workers in the banking sector are met.
