Al-Qaeda demands release of detainees in exchange for kidnapped soldiers from Shabwa

SHABWA, Jun. 19 (YPA) – Informed sources revealed on Saturday that Al-Qaeda organization demanded the release of detainees as a condition for releasing soldiers from Shabwa province kidnapped by the organization in Bayda province.

The sources said that the tribal mediation, which is engaged in negotiations with Al-Qaeda regarding the kidnapped soldiers, failed to release them from the organization’s grip.

Al-Qaeda requested the release of more than ten of the organization’s detainees in the prisons of Sayoun, Marib, Shabwa and Aden, the sources explained.

It is noteworthy that Al-Qaeda kidnapped last Tuesday six soldiers loyal to Saudi-led coalition, including officers, while they were passing on Bihan road, south of Shabwa province.
