Infighting among Islah militants break out in Taiz

TAIZ, Jun. 17 (YPA) – Militants of Islah Party, supported by the Saudi Arabia, took control over several strategic sites in infighting among the party forces in Taiz province.

According to sources, the so-called Fourth Infantry Brigade loyal to the Islah Party attacked the “Fourth Infantry Brigade forces, commanded by Brigadier General “Abu Bakr al-Jabbouli, and controlled sites of “Bayhan” mountain overlooking the city of Al-Turbah” in “Al-Shamaitain district in the Taiz governorate.

The sources said a number of anti-aircraft guns, self-propelled cannons and mortars, with 50 militants were used in the attack on the sites in Al-Shamaitain district.

Meantime, pro-Islah al-Jabbouli sent a threatening message to the forces affiliated with the “35th Brigade” stationed in the strategic mountain of Munif overlooking the Bab al-Mandab Strait and many areas of Lahj province to quickly deliver and leave the site within 48 hours.

The sources affirmed there is conflict escalating behind the scenes has among the centers of influence affiliated with the Islah party in the Hajariya areas.
