Tunisian president accuses parties of coordinating with abroad to assassinate him

SANAA, Jun. 17 (YPA) – Tunisian President Qais Saied has once again sparked widespread controversy in the country, speaking of internal parties secretly trying to coordinate with the outside to remove him from office, even though assassination.

Speaking at a meeting with Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi and several other former Premiers as part of the build-up to a national dialogue aiming at finding solutions to the country’s current woes, the President said he has evidences of his allegations.

“The dialogue cannot be approached in the same way as the old dialogues. True patriots do not organize meetings abroad in order to find a way to remove the President of the Republic even by assassinating him,” he told his guests.

This is not the first time that the Tunisian president has spoken of a plot to assassinate him, having already spoken of a poisoned message reaching his presidential office with the aim of assassinating him.
