Shura Council condemns IPU’s decision to recognize “Sayoun’ parliament”

SANAA, Jun. 03 (YPA) – The Shura Council on Thursday strongly condemned the arbitrary decision issued by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU)’s Board of Directors, which included the recognition of the so-called “Sayoun’ parliament” loyal to Saudi-led coalition.

The Shura Council affirmed, in a statement, that the parliament that exercises its legislative and oversight functions and powers in accordance with the constitution at its headquarters in the capital Sanaa is the legitimate and constitutional representative of the Yemeni people.

In the statement, the Shura Council expressed its categorical rejection of the procedure of the IPU, considering it legitimization and direct participation of the Union in the aggression against Yemen.

The Council stressed that the so-called “Sayoun Parliament” is “a group of dissidents from the national row, who preferred to join the enemy’s side and became a tool for implementing the agenda of aggression against Yemen.”
