Leader in STC militias escapes assassination attempt in Abyan

ABYAN, May 30 (YPA) – A leader in UAE-backed southern transitional council (STC)’s militias escaped on Sunday an assassination attempt in Abyan province, local sources told Yemen Press Agency.

The sources confirmed that unknown gunmen shot at electricity point commander in the security-belt forces, Yousif al-Saghir in Lawdar district, injuring him seriously then he was transferred to a hospital in the city.

Meanwhile, other sources said that the gunmen opened fire at the leader’s home.

The gunmen looted weapons belonging to the leader after they stormed the house, they later left to an unknown destination, while no party has claimed responsibility for the attack.
