PM, UNICEF discuss several humanitarian projects being implemented in Yemen

SANAA, May 29 (YPA) – Prime Minister Dr. Abdulaziz Saleh bin Habtoor discussed on Saturday with UNICEF the work mechanisms to implement several humanitarian projects funded by the organization in Yemen.

The came during his meeting with Regional director of UNICEF office in the Middle East and North Africa, Ted Chaiban, who is currently visiting Yemen.

The meeting also discussed the issue of cash incentives for workers in the health and educational fields and the importance of strengthening UNICEF’s effort in this regard within the framework of the comprehensive treatment of salaries for all workforce in the state’s public service units.

In the meeting, bin Habtoor indicated to the repercussions of the oil derivatives crisis and its direct catastrophic effects on the services sector and citizens, as well as the humanitarian effects resulting from the continued closure of land and sea ports through which the entry of food and medical supplies.

He stressed the need for joint action to prioritize Yemen’s humanitarian needs for the coming period in accordance with indicators of the current situation.

Meanwhile, the UN’s official affirmed UNICEF’s keenness to continue its humanitarian activities to alleviate of the suffering of the Yemeni people in the current conditions.
