Meteorological center warns against using mobile phones during rain

SANAA, May 16 (YPA) – The National Center of Meteorology expected on Sunday the continuation of instability in the weather amid the formation of cumulus clouds in the afternoon and evening, and the fall of rains accompanied by thunderstorms during the next 24 hours.

The center indicated in its weather bulletin that moderate to heavy rains, accompanied by thunderstorms, may occur at times in the mountainous heights of the governorates of Saada, Amran, Hajjah, Mahweet, Sanaa, Dhamar, Rayma, Ibb, Taiz, Dhalea, and Lahj.

It pointed out that the temperatures will continue to be high in the desert and coastal areas, ranging between 36-42 degrees Celsius.

The center also warned citizens in areas with expected rain of being in the bottoms of valleys and streams during and after the rains, and of using mobile phones during the rains.

It alerted vehicle drivers on the roads and mountain slopes of rock slides or mudslides, and a noticeable decrease in the horizontal visibility due to rain or fog.
