LONDON, May 13 (YPA) – British Airways canceled flights to and from Tel Aviv on Thursday, making it the latest international airline to avoid flying to Israel amid the escalating conflict there.
“The safety and security of our colleagues and customers is a priority, and we continue to monitor the situation closely,” British Airways said.
Some American airlines earlier announced the cancellation of their flights to Israel. United Airlines said it canceled flights from Chicago and New York City, New Jersey, to Tel Aviv on May 11, and from San Francisco and New York to Tel Aviv on May 12.
For its part, “Delta Airlines” announced that it has canceled flights from New York to Tel Aviv scheduled between 11 and 13 May, and has not yet set a date for the resumption of flights.
The authorities of the Israeli Ben Gurion Airport announced today, Thursday, that all flights heading to this airport in Tel Aviv have been diverted to Ramon Airport in southern Israel, until further notice, due to rocket fire from the Gaza Strip.
