Iraqi popular mobilization thwarts ISIS infiltration in Babylon province

SANAA, May 09 (YPA) – Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), known as  al-Hashd al-Shaabi foiled an infiltration attempt carried out by the terrorist group Daesh (ISIS)  in Jurf al-Nasr in Babylon province.

“A force of the 47th Brigade of the Popular Mobilization foiled an attempt to infiltrate by the terrorist “ISIS” in Jurf al-Nasr north of Babylon”,  Al-Sumaria News reported, citing the PUM’s statement.

“This came after a group of remnants of the terrorist ISIS tried to infiltrate the area, but the  Iraqi forces managed to thwart the attack,” the statement said.

Iraqi security forces continue to search, clear and hunt down ISIS remnants across the country, ensuring that the group and its fleeing elements do not reappear.

In December 2017, Iraq announced the liberation of its entire territory from ISIS after nearly three and a half years of confrontations with the terrorist organization, which occupied about a third of the country.
