Five Saudi clerics sentenced to five years in prison

SANAA, April 18 (YPA) – Saudi Arabia’s specialized criminal court has sentenced two Saudi defendants to five years in prison on flimsy pretexts and charges.

According to the Prisoners of conscience account, the specialized criminal court “Court of Terrorism” sentenced Sheikh Walid Al-Huwairini to five years in prison.

It explained that the verdict came against Al-Huwairini’s relations, with the so-called “Al-Saruri” current within the Kingdom.

In addition, the Criminal Court also sentenced Sheikh Mohammed Musa al-Sharif to five years in prison.

Sheikh Al-Sharif is a member of the Scientific Committee of the World Qur’an And a pilot captain at Saudi Arabian Airlines.

The most prominent charge against the prisoners was the lack of support for Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s direction.

In mid-2017, Saudi authorities launched a large-scale arrest campaign against preachers and religious figures.
