SANAA, March 21 (YPA) – Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Humanitarian Affairs, Abdul Mohsen Tawoos, met on Tuesday with the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross delegation to Yemen (ICRC) Katharina Ritz.
In the meeting, the two sides discussed a number of respects related to the humanitarian activities being implemented by the ICRC in Yemen.
Tawoos praised the humanitarian efforts exerted by the ICRC, stressing the need for coordination with the Supreme Council that guarantee the progress of work and facilitate the delegation’s tasks in carrying out its various activities.
The meeting touched upon the humanitarian and medical committee’s interventions in light of the requirements of the necessary needs’ matrix and the provision of emergency needs to address the conditions of prisoners and jails.
Tawoos affirmed the importance of working according to the matrix of emergency needs to alleviate the extent of suffering due to the lack of capabilities and the deterioration of service conditions in some affected provinces, especially, hospitals and prisons.
He pointed out the necessity of continuous preparation and readiness to receive the internally displaced persons (IDP)s from Marib and work to provide the necessary and urgent needs.
Tawoos stated Council’s keenness to facilitate the work and overcome the difficulties that face the committee for carrying out its tasks and activities in Yemen.
For her part, the ICRC’s official affirmed the delegation’s keenness to provide services to face emergency situations with all available efforts within the framework of coordination and joint action.
