Tension Iraqi security forces, protesters reruns in Dhi Qar province

SANAA, Feb. 28 (YPA) – Tensions have returned to Dhi Qar province in southern Iraq after a bloody day in which more than 100 people were injured and killed.

“The demonstrators in Dhi Qar renewed their protest on Saturday afternoon and closed the streets and bridges, refusing to appoint the head of the National Security Service Abdel Ghani al-Assadi instead of the sacked governor Nazim al-Waili,” the Iraqi local media  reported.

“The demonstrators went to the local government building despite the refusal of the security forces, and then there were clashes between them,” he said.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi appointed Abdul Ghani al-Asadi, head of the Iraqi National Security Service, to replace Nazim al-Waili as governor of Dhi Qar, according to media report and a statement from Kadhimi’s office.
