Civil aviation: closure of Sanaa airport is an unforgivable crime

SANAA, Feb. 26 (YPA) – Mazen Ghanem, spokesman for the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology on Thursday said that the blockade imposed by Saudi-led coalition forces on Yemen and the closure of Sana’a International Airport is an unforgivable crime.

Ghanem, in a statement, confirmed the closure of Sanaa airport causes the death of thousands of patients and the same fate awaits hundreds of thousands of patients if they cannot travel for treatment abroad.

“The closure of Sanaa Airport has deprived millions of Yemenis of travel and return to their homeland and turned Yemen into a large prison,” he said.

He also stressed that the closure of Sana’a International Airport is illegal and against all international laws, conventions and resolutions, especially the Chicago Agreement.

The spokesman called on  the UN Security Council to neutralize Sanaa airport and issue an immediate international decision binding the opening of the airport.
