NIGERIA, Feb. 12 (YPA) – 19 members of the ‘Boko Haram’ terrorist group were killed on Friday during a military operation launched by the Nigerian army in north-eastern the country.
The official Nigerian media confirmed that the clashes during the operation also resulted in the injury of a large number of militants and the seizure of five armed vehicles belonging to the “Boko Haram” terrorist group, in addition to large quantities of ammunition.
A military source said that Boko Haram fighters, who were driving eight military trucks, tried earlier to attack a military base in the town of Rann in what appeared to be an ambush.
The source added that the forces immediately withdrawn tactically from their base to thwart the attack, while the army launched an intense air and ground counterattack against the terrorists who fled the scene.
