WHO urges not to abandon poor countries in Corona vaccines

SANAA, Jan. 30 (YPA) – The Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, urged not to repeat the mistakes of the past and give up on poor countries until rich countries complete vaccinating their populations with anti-Coronavirus vaccines.
“If we keep the vaccines for ourselves and do not share them, then there will be three major problems, the first is to record a catastrophic moral failure, the second to allow the pandemic to continue borrowing, and the third to significantly slow down the economic recovery,” Ghebreyesus said during a press conference.

He added, “This is therefore a moral error and it will not help stop the epidemic and will not restore the means of livelihood … It is up to us to make a decision.”

The World Health Organization earlier on Saturday criticized the European Union’s adoption of a mechanism to monitor exports of vaccines against Corona outside its region and prevent the export of doses intended for Europeans.
