SANAA, Jan. 19 (YPA) – The Qatari Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, called on the Gulf states to enter into a dialogue with Iran, noting that this is the right time for Doha to mediate negotiations.
Bin Abdul Rahman added in an interview with Bloomberg TV that the Gulf Cooperation Council countries also have the same desire, Reuters reported.
The Qatari minister said that his government supports the ongoing discussions between Iran and South Korea for the release of an oil tanker detained by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards early this month.
In a separate comment on the possibility of talks between the United States and Iran, he said Qatar would facilitate discussions if asked to do so and would support whoever is chosen for that mission.
On possible talks between Washington and Tehran, he said that his country wants to achieve an achievement and wants to reach an agreement between the two sides.
