SANAA, Jan. 18 (YPA) – The Swiss authorities announced the death of 3 people in avalanches in the western city of Montreux.
The Vaud Canton police said that several other people were swept away by snow in the vicinity of Montreux.
A police spokeswoman confirmed to “AFP” that investigations are underway into the incidents.
On Saturday, Swiss police announced the death of two people due to avalanches in the Alps, after heavy snowfall in the country.
The police spokeswoman explained that a 49-year-old skier died in the village of Oberwald after being buried by snow, and that another person died in the canton of Oberwalden after being buried by snow as well.
