Hadi’s gov’t accuses Marib’s governor of plundering billions of riyals

ADEN, Jan. 04 (YPA) – The Saudi-backed “Hadi government” has accused Marib province’s governor Sultan Al-Arada, affiliated with the Islah party, of looting billions of riyals from the bank’s treasury in the province.

Informed sources in Aden province reported on Monday that the Minister of Finance in Hadi’s government, Salem bin Burik, had warned the governor of Marib Al-Arada against disposing of funds and transferring them from the province’s bank to Shabwa province without an official permission from his ministry.

The sources indicated that bin Burik held Al-Arada responsible for the fate of the province’s revenues and using them for the benefit of certain parties, which the sources did not name.

According to the sources, Al-Arada’s response was provocative to the Finance Minister, when he said: “Marib and its bank belong to those who protect it,” in reference to the Islah party.
