Covid-19 targets US FM

SANAA, Dec. 16 (YPA) – The US State Department announced on Wednesday that its foreign minister, Mike Pompeo, has entered quarantine, after having had contact with people infected with coronavirus, Covid-19.

“The current tests showed that Mike Pompeo tested negative for infection with the Covid-19,” according to Reuters news agency.

It added, ” Pompeo will be isolated in quarantine, after close contact with a person has tested positive for the virus.”

“Pompeo is currently being closely monitored by the department’s medical team.

The US State Department refused to announce the person who had close contact with Pompeo and was confirmed to be infected with the Coronavirus, for reasons of privacy.

Pompeo is supposed to leave his office in the US State Department in next January, with the administration of US President-elect Joe Biden assuming power.
