Germany renews its rejection of US sanctions on Northern Torrent 2 project

SANAA, Dec. 10 (YPA) – German Ambassador to Russia Geese Andreas von Gayer renewed his country’s refusal to impose any US sanctions regarding the Northern Torrent Project 2, stressing that it constitutes a violation of international law.
“Russia Today” website quoted Gayer as saying: “Northern Torrent 2 is a commercial project run by companies that I hope will be able to take the necessary decisions to complete the project successfully.”

He added, “As the federal government, we cannot help but repeat that we consider the US sanctions policy that transgresses regional borders wrong and violates international law.”

It is noteworthy that (Northern Torrent 2) is a Russian project to extend two gas pipelines with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters annually from the Russian coast across the bottom of the Baltic Sea to Germany and most of the project has been implemented, but it is now facing obstacles due to American pressure, as Washington threatens the companies participating in the project with sanctions and this comes At a time when Washington plans to increase its sales of liquefied natural gas to Europe, which has a high price.
