SANAA, Dec. 9 (YPA) – The US House of Representatives overwhelmingly approved the $ 740 billion defense budget bill, despite President Donald Trump’s opposition.
335 deputies voted in favor of the project, compared to 78 votes against it.
Trump had threatened to veto the bill for several reasons, including that it includes a clause on removing the names of Confederate generals from the names of military bases.
Trump also opposed the budget bill, because it does not eliminate what is known as “Chapter 230”, which protects major technology companies such as “Google”, “Facebook” and “Twitter” from responsibility for the content that Internet users post on their platforms.
The draft law on the defense budget includes expanding the sanctions against the “Northern Torrent-2” project to pump Russian gas to Europe via the Baltic Sea, which is implemented by the Russian “Gazprom” in cooperation with several European companies.
