SANAA, Nov. 28 (YPA) – The US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced, on Friday evening, the imposition of new economic sanctions on four Chinese and Russian companies for allegedly supporting the development of the Iranian nuclear program.
Pompeo said on Twitter, “The United States has imposed sanctions on four companies in China and Russia for their support of the Iranian nuclear program,” as he claimed.
On Wednesday, Washington imposed punitive measures on two companies based in China, “Chengdu Best New Materials” and “Zippo Elem Trade”, and on two Russian-based companies, “Nilco Group” and “Joint Stock Company Elicon”.
The US State Department claimed in a statement that these companies “have provided advanced technology and equipment for the Iranian nuclear missile program” and will face sanctions for two years.
“We will continue to use all the sanctions available to us to prevent Iran from increasing its nuclear capability,” Pompeo said.
Striking through international laws and treaties, Washington intends a policy of “maximum pressure” against Tehran, which included in particular the unilateral withdrawal in 2018 from the agreement on its nuclear program and the re-imposition of economic sanctions on it.
