Islah militants burn house in Taiz

TAIZ, Nov. 26 (YPA) – Armed elements affiliated with al-Islah party on Thursday have burned down a house in the center of Taiz over the heads of its residents, local sources said.

According to the local sources said that the gunmen of the17th Brigade led by a young man named Rami al-Khulidi set fire to the house of a citizen in Bir Pasha area after looting its contents.

Members of the brigade besieged a woman and wrapped her in one of the rooms of the house in an attempt to burn inside the house, but the woman’s neighbors managed to save her after the gunmen withdrew.

The gunmen justified their crime by pursuing wanted men.

It was not the first crime of its kind in the city, during the past few weeks, the city has witnessed breaking into houses and apartments, burning or killing those involved.

The motives of the latest crime are not known and whether they are in the context of conflicts between the wings of Islah or it has other dimensions. However, it comes days after a confrontation between the 5th Brigade and the 17th Infantry Brigade to differences between a couple that developed into confrontations in the area of Bir Pasha.
