Al-Arada leaves Marib

MARIB. Nov. 24 (YPA) – Hadi’s governor of Marib, Sultan al-Arada, left the province on Tuesday for nearby Hadhramaut in a surprise move.

This was reported by Yemen News Portal, based on local sources.

The move came after a call he received from Hadi’s prime minister Moeen Abdul Malik.

Tribal sources said that Al-Arada arrived at the al-Wadeiah border with Saudi Arabia and it is not yet known whether he will stay or leave for Riyadh.

Al-Arada’s departure came at a difficult time for the Islah authorities in Marib, with differences widening with their opponents led by Ben Aziz amid a steady advance by Sanaa forces on the outskirts of the city.

For its part, diplomatic sources revealed the possibility of appointing al-Arada in a new position of upcoming Hadi government, expecting that the new governor of Marib is affiliated with the Emirates.

The move would end the existence of Islah in the most important oil portfolio, especially after Bin Aziz completed control of all military units with the help of the seventh military commander.

Saudi Arabia had earlier put forward the name al-Arada as a replacement for Ali Mohsen in an attempt to hit two birds with one stone.
